The Electric Lantern Festival is a three day film and video festival that takes place in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in September 2013.
Now in its third year, the film festival screens films and video from Kent and nationally. We aim to bring an eclectic mix of programmed films and submissions from both professional and emerging producers. The schedule is programmed to bring new, exciting, unusual films to Kent from its spiritual home in Tunbridge Wells' famous Trinity Theatre.
Content ranges from feature-length drama and narrative films and documentaries to short films, animation and music videos. Many of these are connected to Kent or Tunbridge Wells in some way.
As well as our film content, we aim to programme a number of other related events such as discussions and Q&As with the film-makers, who are kind enough to bring their expertise and experience to the people of Kent.
The Festival is currently open for submissions of films (the deadline for film submissions is by the end of Monday 3rd June 2013), and information on how to submit a film can be found on our Submissions page.
In 2013, the film festival is pleased to include content from Fusion's Short Film Competition. Open to people local to the Tunbridge Wells area, their competition encourages people to create a short film (up to 7 minutes in length).
A selection of these will be screened at the festival on the evening of Saturday 7th September to a panel of judges. These judges will select the short-list to go through to final round. The winner will be announced at the end of October at Fusion's closing night gala, and awarded a prize of £1,000.
